Connection, Time, Distance
A collaborative piece with Currents of Clay that began with unpainted ceramic faces constructed many years ago by a distant cousin of my partner. She was an aspiring ceramicist, though we don’t know if she continued with her art. When we inherited the unpainted faces they reminded me of Japanese Kabuki masks, so I wanted to personalize them, create a connection between her art and my art, give them life and color to reflect who WE art. We are rainbow hued, connected to the earth, to beauty, to color (raucous color!), to bling, and to each other. We are a force insisting on rest, generating energy through the collective. We are connection through time and distance.
